Michael A. Dirr wrote the first Manual Of Woody Landscape Plants, Their Identification, Ornamental Characteristics, Culture, Propagation and Uses in 1977. Since then, it has gone through many revisions, each time making the book bigger and better, becoming the holy bible when propagating woody landscape plants and the countries most utilized horticultural teaching text.
I have taken select species of woody trees and shrubs and provided summaries of each using information from the woody landscape plants manual as well as other sources. Each page will summarize the basic identification, growth habits, propagation methods, as well as their use in the landscape.
The links below will take you directly to the tree or shrub indicated.
